Keep the North Shore Sane

This blog will be about the North Shore of Oahu. The focus will be on the politics, economics and lifestyle of the North Shore. The North Shore is such a small place, people are often intimidated and do not speak their mind. Here you can speak your mind. I accept guest posts either by name or anonymously as long as they are not obscene. Let's argue, let's be opinionated and let's really dig down into the issues that affect our lives here on the North Shore of Oahu.

Great Job Handling the Rock Slide

Sometimes stuff happens that we have no control over.

The Waimea Rock Slide of 2007 is a perfect example, as was the Big Island Earthquake of 2006. It is the reaction of people/government and other entities that we remember in the aftermath.

I have to give major congratulations to those who handled the Rock Slide. Signs were put up early. The Police and Civil Defense helped give good answers. The radio, newspapers and websites gave good information about when the road would be closed, open, partially open etc.

Heavy equipment was on site by mid Saturday morning and people were working. They worked on Sunday and the road has been partially reopened ahead of schedule.

Thanks to all who worked so hard and well in getting the road open. Thank you to those invisible bureaucrats who made good decisions and let the road be opened quickly. You really helped us out here on the North Shore by exercising good sense.

Let's give credit when it is due.

Good job government. You should all be proud of how you handled things. Citizens of the North Shore, we did well. We helped each other out, no one got hurt, we got by.

Rock Slide At Waimea. We Need a New Road.

A rock slide at Waimea Bay has closed the road. The North Shore locals at the scene all speculate that this one is worse than the slide that closed the road for 95 days.

95 Days Was Insane!

I only hope this is not the case this time.

We need a new road folks. Wake up please. The North Shore is not the "Country" any more. It is a suburb of Honolulu, a tourist destination and a local playground. Read more reasons we need a road by clicking here.

We have to grow up and smell the coffee.

Thank You Erasers.

I am not sure if these heroes of the North Shore want to let people know their names. They are the "Erasers".

The Erasers are covering over gross, disgusting grafitti from Camp Erdman, past Turtle Bay Resort and over to the Crouching Lion. Sometimes it seems to me that they cover up those cowardly scrawls as soon as they go up.

I don't know how they got rid of the disgusting graffiti mess at Waimea, but they did.

I know who these people are, but I do not want to give them the accolades they deserve unless they want me to.

ERASERS - IF YOU WANT YOUR PROPS, LET ME KNOW VIA EMAIL. IF SO, I WILL PRAISE YOU FROM THE LOFTIEST PERCHES.

ERASERS, - IF YOU WANT TO REMAIN ANONYMOUS (LIKE I DO), THANK YOU, MAHALO, KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK, GOD BLESS YOU.

Grafitti Taggers Hit Waimea Bay Rock Wall

In less than a week the rock wall facing the beach at Waimea Bay has been horribly defaced. It is in the area by St. Peter and Paul Church near the stairs that lead to the beach.

It is disgusting, shameful and heart breaking.

In the battle of erasing graffiti on the North Shore there are some unsung heroes. These wonderful people paint over graffiti almost as soon as it goes up. The taggers hit concrete barriers, school walls, electric boxes. The "Erasers" fixed things up.

My guess is that in this escalating battle, the Taggers decided to hit the rock wall. Can't paint over a rock wall. I really do not know how or if that is going to be cleaned up.

Even worse, post original taggers are starting to scrawl f-bombs on the wall. Someone tried to cover up the tagging with more tagging. It is a mess.

Now we have the visual blight at Waimea to go along with the rock wall near Kawela and the rocks at Three Tables.

I warn you, if you do not want to be sickened, don't look at it.

It is an awful act by criminals. I hope the Main Stream Press reports on this. I hope the culprits are found and are made to clean it up with toothbrushes.

Did Anyone See People Spray Painting at Waimea?

Please Call The Police!
