Why Is It A "Victory" That Starwood Did Not Buy Turtle Bay

If Oaktree is so awful, evil and hated, why is it a "victory" that Starwood did not buy them out?

The opposition to Turtle Bay spews hatred to Oaktree, the property owner, in print, through protest, through signs, etc.. But Mark Cunningham proclaimed not selling to Starwood is a victory.

Why is that?

It appears to me that Oaktree selling would be something the North Shore serial protestors would welcome.

Am I wrong?

Why?
